Artist Statement

Magic for me are pigments mixed with water and applied by brush on rag paper to create a moment in time. Overlapping translucent colors can show the value gradients of coolness and warmth in a landscape. Watercolor painting enables me to capture this emotion. I can show the ethereal light or the dense darkness in my work with subjects that enables me to enjoy working outdoors. All seasons have an endless beauty ready to capture on paper. Portraits of individuals and animals provides great joy when I’m able to grasp their personalities. I hope to share this emotion within my scope of work.
